What is B-roll / overlay footage
B-roll footage (or sometimes called overlay footage) is supplemental video content that is used to provide context or visual interest in a video.
Unlike primary footage, which focuses on capturing a specific subject or interviewee, b-roll footage captures general scenes or shots of complimentary content to support the primary footage.
B-roll footage is used by companies to provide more visual interest and add depth to their video marketing content.
While interviews and other types of footage are important, b-roll footage is essential in giving the viewer a sense of what's happening in the larger context of the video, helping to engage the viewer and keep them watching.
